Performance

  • September 2001 - Rear Urethane Sway Bar Bushings

  • September 2001 - Mintex A/F Brake Pads

  • June 2001 - John Miks's Heat Shield ( PICs )

Added John's hand made heat shield to prevent warm engine air from getting into the intake.

  • April 2001 - Bosch Platinum +4 ( Bosch - INFO )

Replaced Ford factory plus with Bosch Platinum +4. Don't notice any significant power advantage, but the engine revs much smoother now.

  • January 2001 - Transmission "Cocktail" ( CEG - INFO )

Added Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF fluid and the Ford Friction Modifier (C8AZ-19B546-A) to improve shifting. The "mixture" is worth it, providing a much smoother feel of the 5-speed.

  • December 1999 - Moose Fix [TSB-97-22-3] ( CEG - INFO - PICs )

  • December 1999 - True Rev Sport Induction Kit ( KKM - PICs )

My wife must love me, as I got this for Christmas 1999. Couldn't wait, had it installed before noon Christmas day. :) WOW, don't know if it is all in my head, but I hear and feel a difference. Fairly painless to install, only had to bend the mounting braket to fit my car. I really like it. However, I now have the dreaded "moosing", but TSB-97-22-3 is going to fix that (already ordered the parts, just waiting).

  • July 2001 - A6 Side Marking Lights ( Info and Pics Coming Soon. - Wiring Schematic )

  • April 2001 - 'Knauberized' Doors ( INFO - PICs )

Removed the door ding guards. This really smooths out the doors and gives them a much cleaner look.

  • March 2001 - Front SVT Emblem ( PICs )

Replaced the front FORD emblem with a chrom SVT emblem. Looks much better now.

  • December 1999 - New Ford Cup Holder ( PICs )

  • December 1999 - Shift Knob ( KKM - PICs )

Also for Christmas 1999, I got a Titanium shift knob I like the look, and it feels real smooth. It does, however, take a while to get used to, but I like it.

  • October 1999 - Fog Light Modification ( CEG - INFO - PICs )

I wanted to turn my fog lights on without my headlights (see PICs) . To do this, I followed the instructions found at CEG. This modification was really easy. The instructions were perfect, clear, and concise. The total time for the modification was ~20 minutes, and that's only because I double-checked every step with a voltage meter.

Also, while I was messing with the fog lights, I upgraded the bulbs from the standard ~38W (#893) to 50W (#885) bulbs. I like the look much better, but unfortunately doesn't improve visibility. I guess to do that, I'll have to upgrade to PIAA driving lights.... :)

  • Wheels and Tires

  • April 2001 - Bridgestone Potenza RE730s ( Bridgestone - TIRE )

The SZ50s had great traction, but only lasted 20,000 miles. The RE730s are supposed to handle better than the SZ50s, but last longer. Only time will tell. :)

  • May 1999 - Firehawk SZ50s ( Firestone - TIRE )

Although I bought these to replace the Goodyear Eagle GS-Cs that were OEM, I have noticed better response from the SZ50s. Also, they handle much better in the wet. Tire Rack rated these tires best all around performers in the dry and wet. I'm not sure of the longevity yet, but the SZ50s have a good wear rating. So far, I like them.

  • September 2001 - Pioneer Speakers TS-A6865 ( INFO )

Installed four speakers, replacing factory ones. I chose the Pioneers because they were a direct fit. Pretty easy to install, but time consuming.

  • Summer 2000 - Antenna Switch

Installed a relay switch under the dash to disable the antenna. Basically, an UP/DOWN switch for the antenna. This allows me to have the antenna down while listening to CDs.

  • June 1998 - Tint

After two Texas Summers, I finally decided to get my car tinted. I had all four side windows and the rear tinted. The side windows were done with 35% tint, and the rear was done with 20% tint.

  • Every 3K - Synthetic Oil ( Mobil 1 )

Since the car's first oil change (1000 miles), my SVT has gotten Mobil 1 every 3000-4000 miles. I love it, and will continue to believe that synthetic oil is better than conventional.
