- We all know how BEVO got his name (13-0 changed to BEVO).
- "A&M played a role in the naming of the University of
Texas mascot after beating the Longhorns 13-0 in a 1915
football game. Before the game in 1916, six cadets
branded the mascot with the score from the previous
year.
To avoid embarrassment, the Longhorn students altered
the brand, changing the 13 into a B, the E and inserted
a V between the E and the O, creating the name BEVO. The
name was inspired by the bevo, which was a soda drink
that tasted like beer.

- However, some t-sip's seem to have come up with a cleaver
way to refute the story. Most arguments point to the
following article published in 2003.
- It is funny how one tries to rewrite history. Here are
my key points as to why I don't believe the above article:
- It took 87 years to refute the Aggie's story.
- It was written by the t.u. Student Newspaper.
- BEVO was named after a convoluted near-beer?
- The plural of "beef" is "beeves"?
- I'm an Aggie. :)
